Like fashion, tactics are cyclical. And the upcoming trend appears to be a three-at-the-back formation, but what are the benefits?

You can't talk back 3 without mentioning Antonio Conte
The first one to reach success was ruben amorim btw
Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City they all played back 3 now
🎉🎉Wow amazing video my friend 🎉🎉🎉❤
It’s a back 5
Tuchel was ahead of his time
Why they use a back 3? They saw Pep Guardiola's ManCity win the treble so they all copied Pep
Ain’t this what Tottenham do…
You don't rate Mabasa?
Jon Mackenzieee 😍
Is TIFO the same as Athletic?
Antonio Conte
bring back Sensible transfers
Inter have played a back three since Conte last started the back 3 trend in England with Chelsea. Leverkusen and Atleti are the only other top teams that have adopted it.
Conte did this in 2017
That’s a nice sweater
Doesn't really make sense if it's only a back three in possession. Formations are most fluid or different in possession for the most part. If they use wingbacks and three centre backs to start, it's a back five. If they start with a back four and a defensively minded midfielder drops in between the centre backs in possession, then it's still a back four.
So Chris wilders was right when he brought up Sheffield United…… He played a back 3 with over lapping CB…….. He was crazy like a fox apparently
inter will win ucl this season ngl
It works if you have a frimpong or dumfries. Elite wingbacks
So what you’re saying is that Chris Wilder was essentially a visionary?
Im here for the jumper
simone inzaghi is so underrated, hes better than conte
Chris Wilder's Sheffield United was the pioneer of this. Its not the pioneer, but its the earliest that i could remember
Tuchel was the first to do it at Chelsea, the Pep followed along the next season and eon UCL with a back 3.
Arsenal City and Sometimes pool buildup in a 325 shape
I guess you can almost compare the return of back threes to the return of long form content
Do you prefer a back three or a back four?
Wasnt this why Tuchel won the Champions League with Rudiger as a key piece?
Back three comeback???
It was brought back by Conte and never went out of fashion… Tuchel won CL with it. All these new coaches are just copycats…
Pep wins a treble with exactly the same layout
Jon: I have never seen that guy in my life
But it still becomes a 2-5-3
Students of Wilder
They don't make full videos unless it's about the PL team/s. Such a shame.
The result is an attractive, fluid futbol. It will be hard to keep this principle under utter chaos, but once they've diminished all elements of chaos, they can dominate for better parts of the game.
