barca/madrid is bigger and better than your favorite team and it shows, like how is it not exciting to have a whole league between objectively the best teams in the world? no bias, no group phase where teams have gone through by chance, just the best of the best fighting for the top, and with fair pay regulated by the clubs, not some other organization

it's more likely to happen now that many clubs are part of multi club ownerships. City will not want to miss out on the champions league but they run this risk if their sister club girona finishes higher in Spain than City do in England. Same goes for United, with OGC Nice looking good to finish in their top 3. So as much as the English clubs are pretending they won't back a super league, they'll soon rethink that strategy if their first choice clubs aren't playing top tier European football

Hot take: I like the swiss model. It is better as it reduces the odds of a team being put in a very lopsided group or in a 'group of death'. Also, the bar for entry to the knockout round is fairer as the sample size of results that are compared is MUCH larger.

With that being said, I don't approve of the knockout play-off round, because a team which performs terribly across 8 matches and barely finishes 24th out of 36 shouldn't be given the opportunity to redeem itself across 2 matches and shouldn't be treated as equal to the team that finishes 9th

Bro how is this far to footballers like come on with the fifa club world cup expanding in 2025 along with world cup happening the year after and also the new swiss model coming to the ucl, uel and uecl plus their leagues and domestic cups and league cups, with all match congested games that footballers have to play in the upcoming years its gonna suck for footballers even more when they have to face other top teams in the ESL on a weakly basis.

Moral: The ESL is a horrible idea and this will increase injuries in the upcoming years.

This thing is already happening in Asian club competitions from next season
Asian Champions League will only be for 24 clubs from elite countries like Saudi, UAE, Qatar, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Iran, Iraq, Uzbekistan, China, Thailand and Malaysia
Meanwhile clubs from Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Yemen, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Brunei, Hong Kong and all will have to play in the second tier and third tier of Afc club competitions next season. Even if these countries improve their rankings they still cannot play in the champions league elite

the world is unfair.. so the rich will always remain rich and the poor will always remain poor.. the few lucky poor may become rich once in a while.. but its obviously the way of the world for the rich to always remain rich bc its obviously easier for the rich.

I support the Super League because they aren't going to take most of the profits and give some ridiculously low amounts of money to the clubs, but actually give the most to the clubs themselves whilst keeping their own profits a bit lower but still make some good money. Also, unlike the UEFA competitions, the Super League will be free to watch, so no more earning money from TV rights. This is also the main reason why the English clubs are against this because their profits mostly come from TV rights. On the other hand this will give a chance to fallen giants of european foootball to become big once again, help them build good infrastructures, invest more in young talent and overall help them develop a good team. Also the new UCL format is just straight up copied from the Super League, but Super League has more games. This is only my opinion, so lmk about y'all's

I don’t think most people understand the implications of the ESL coming about:
1: There has already been a massive uproar this season about the amount of matches and the strain on players. Imagine for them to now have to play 2 full table leagues every 2 weeks.
2: There wouldn’t be any knockouts anymore. Since the idea is a relegation/promotion league, there’s no excitement or big underdogs. That’s also because it’s only gonna be the big clubs playing each other at the top, no more Sheriff Tiraspol beating Real Madrid or Villarreal getting to the semifinals and beating Bayern. No more excitement when there’s a 5th El Clásico in 4 months.
3: The games are gonna be free for now because it’s not a very popular idea, but once more people start coming, the cost is gonna be the same as it is right now.
4: Sure the big clubs get more money, but that would just hurt the normal domestic leagues. We can see how farmers leagues are created by a few clubs having loads of money while the small majority don’t. People are so quick to get angry at a Qatari takeover, but once the big clubs earn billions from another entirely new league, it’s fine.

Team like gerona will do much better in ESL then any other league.

If you want I can give you some examples-

Where is porto benefica lyon Marseille Leicester city even ajax after that 2019 cl season.

Where are these teams, they cant retain there managers and players forget about buying new ones,

Esl will make sure clubs have equal power and money and more money then what currently they are getting specially true to small clubs.

If girona won this year la liga there players and manager gonna get snatched by se other elite club and they are back to step 1.
