I like this idea of an extended Champions League format. Teams need to recruit more players and give playing time to the players and young players. Football recruits many young people in their academies and they need to open more opportunities.

CL has lost its fabric and even the explanations do not make sense anymore. The old format of First and Second group stages prior to knockout qualification was better. Money is now taking over the game.

Yes, there could be up to 4 more European games for these teams. But still could be less games than championship clubs, not an excuse. I’m not a fan of the 5th place team of 2 countries getting a champions league spot as well based off country coefficient

Whoever is complaining about there being more games, can go home and lock themselves up! We are tired of hearing that nonsense! When I was a player, I wished we had played more games. Real professional players love more games. It keeps them fit! Trust me, the most painful games of the season are those first 5 matches you play just after a long break…..muscle injuries usually occur at this time. It's more money in player pockets (and UEFA of course!), more money to clubs & more games for us spectators to watch. If any player cannot handle a couple of more games, then he should change careers, there's about a billion more players wishing to take his place!

They just keep finding ways to complicate football and destroy the essence of the very sportđŸ€ŠđŸœâ€â™‚ïžđŸ€ŠđŸœâ€â™‚ïž

You KNOW these changes are not for the good of the sport. UEFA is not a sports organisation it's a corrupt money machine. The president should be responsible for such choice and bring it to the fans. But there is nothing to bring. They don't care about the sport. They don't care about competition. They just adjust whatever metric they can so it makes money and is watchable. Enjoy your tuna can football. It'll be profitable and watchable enough to be marketable. I wanna puke.

The current Champions League format is totally rubbish. UEFA should revert it back to only "champions" of each countries and the straight knockout gsmes with no seedings.

As a fan I am sick of more games. I love attending games but when you factor in travel expenses as well as ticket prices, then you're watching players struggling to cope and either getting injured or not able to perform at their best. Too many games. It's all about money nothing else.

If you compare teams from other groups you can have a team finish in 3rd have more points than a team in second
Shakhtar Donetsk had 9 points, Paris Saint-Germain had 8 and Copenhagen 8 who both came in second

This is BS. Its more about the money than the sport. The level and quality of football on the field is going to drop and susceptible to career ending injuries. Its Shite. Theres already so much for the players, this is just greed.

The big issue with the champions league is they need to find a way to get a wider variety of clubs in the latter stages and potentially winning it.They need to find a way to get clubs from Netherlands,Portugal, Belgium , Eastern Europe , Scandinavia having some chance of winning it.This was the case up until 20 years ago however it's become a competition preserved only for the top 4 or 5 leagues in recent years and this is not good for the competition.

Absolutely bollocks format – the average fan is going to be confused with this one as well and lose interest! Also, why should teams finished 5th and 6th like United, get a place? Losing it's relevance.
